Where was this at? New York? I've given phone-using and noise-making patrons "the stare" here in Chicago when they are too loud and I've gotten (mildly) threatened with a punch. This crowd seemed to be in good spirits about the whole thing.

On another note, can we again look forward to your Halloween countdown of horror movie clips?

Yes, this was during a Broadway production.

I, too, have become a master of "the stare"--it doesn't seem to work, though. It's quite amazing how rude and inconsiderate audiences have become in the last few years.

And you can definitely look forward to the Halloween countdown, as well! Giddy just thinking about it...

As for audiences and courtesy -- I think we're still trying to navigate the waters of digital-age decorum.

I am sure that when you spend much of your day in a digital mobile haze, it can be easy to a) forget to turn off your portable and b) forget yourself and get sucked into immediately answering/picking up -- you can easily forget where you are at.

I would like to think as we get more accustomed to these devices, we'll restore a certain level of respect for use of them in public spaces, especially performance spaces.

In re Halloween countdown: outstanding!
